Description:

This is a basic introductory class on using Adobe Lightroom to import, organize, manage and develop your images. This class assumes that students have no prior knowledge or experience in using Lightroom and it’s perfect for those who want to learn how to use this very popular program from Adobe.

Students will learn how the Lightroom catalog works since it’s different than other programs in that it’s not a browser. I’ll spend time showing you how to import images and the best way to keep files organized so they can be easily located and what to do when files are missing and how to avoid a “lightroom mess”. I’ll discuss some of my favorite techniques for quickly finding files when clients call and ask for a particular image or subject.

We’ll spend time on editing (that’s the FUN part!) where you will learn how to take your images from flat and boring to fantastic. Students will learn basic techniques on adjusting exposure, contrast, white balance, using the tools in the tool bar and how to convert images to black and white and much, much more. You will learn how to do more than you ever thought possible just using Lightroom alone and I’m excited to share my techniques with you.   Students often leave my class amazed at how much they learn and the objective of this class is to get you up and running quickly so you are comfortable using Lightroom on your own.

In addition, since Lightroom is much more than just an editing program, I’ll cover some of the other features in Lightroom such as how to export images for the web and email, printing and the use of the other modules (slide module, book module and map module).

Since we all learn best by doing, students are encouraged to bring laptops to class. I will supply practice images to all students and time permitting, students can bring their own images to work on. Students are expected to have basic computer skills and know how find files and programs.
